Hi, I’m Emma—writer, publicist, book lover, and lifelong storyteller. My journey with words has taken me across industries, from journalism to publicity, academia to content creation; but at the heart of it all is a deep love for storytelling in all its forms. I love connecting with audiences, building narratives, and convincing the internet to care about literature.

My lifelong love of books and reading led me to pursue dual Bachelor’s degrees in Communication and English. After graduating from Colorado Christian University in 2021, I started my career at Newsweek as a full-time staff writer. I covered national news and politics before transitioning into culture and entertainment, interviewing celebrities, writing features, and exploring the industry from a journalist’s perspective, gaining experience that gave me invaluable insight into the media world.

But my love for books and creative storytelling kept pulling me in a different direction. Now, as a publicist at Gracie PR and a Graduate Professional Assistant at Poetry Daily, I get to work on campaigns that bring books, brands, experts, and ideas into the spotlight. I love crafting narratives that connect with audiences, whether through publicity strategy, branding, or social media content.

Outside of work, I’m also a part-time graduate student at George Mason University, where I’m earning my MA in Literature with a focus on publishing. Academia has always been a space where I thrive, and I find so much joy in research, writing, and discovering new perspectives. My passion for literature spills over into my Bookstagram, @emmamshelf, where I share reviews, recommendations, and all things bookish with an incredible community of readers.

When I’m not studying, working, or reading, you can usually find me working on my own novel, exploring a new coffee shop, making weird things on Canva, traveling, or spending time with my family, friends, and long-distance partner. I also share my home with my two dogs, Koda and Gus, and my cat, Zoe, who keep life interesting in the best ways.
